The Spanish are avid TV watchers. Most TV's receive between upwards of twenty channels, two main state run Television Española  TV1 and TV2, three main independent (Antenna 3, Tele 5 and Canal Plus) plus many newer ones Sexta Cuarto, Clan, InterEconomia, and a regional one which in Andalucia is Canal Sur. Most small town have a loca TV run by the town hall. 

The majority of programming is aired 24-hours. Apart from news (of which there's a respectable amount) programming consists largely of game and talk shows, sport, soap operas and English language films dubbed into Spanish. Canal Plus is a collection of pay channel with several films a day and key sports. 

Satellite TV was popular for the tourists and foreign residents. Due to the change in satelite the UK free to air can not be viewed and many housolders have moved to some form of Internet based TV.  Spanish orientated Satelite TV as seen in hotels and bars may contain BBC World, CNN and Sky News.
